Researchers’ job at the ECOFOG (ECOlogie des FOrêts de Guyane) unit is to understand how the ecosystem and plant species work in order to develop sustainable forest management systems.

INRA (Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique) studies the biological function of trees and the biodiversity of French Guiana forest in order to try to preserve these fragile ecosystems more effectively.

UMR Qualitrop (QUALIté des fruits et légumes TROPicaux): Studies French Guiana flora particularly the area concerning fruit, vegetables and aromatic and medicinal plants in tropical environment.
