Caribbean Research and Management of Biodiversity Institute or Carmabi, where both marine and terrestrial biodiversity research takes place. Most of the research is carried out by visiting scientists and graduate and post graduate researchers, mostly driven by the priorities of European and US Universities. The Protected Area Management organizations on the islands, united in the
Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance (DCNA), generally have coral reef monitoring programs in place and some also monitor vegetation in the terrestrial protected areas.
